Being diagnosed with prostate cancer can feel overwhelming, but with timely diagnosis and the right treatment, many men go on to live long and healthy lives. At AINU Hospitals, our entire team of uro-oncology specialists, urologists, medical oncologists, radiation oncologists, radiologists, and pathologists work together to create a personalized treatment plan for every patient.

Using advanced imaging, precision diagnostics, minimally invasive techniques, and robotic-assisted surgery, we aim to achieve the best possible cancer control while preserving urinary and sexual function whenever possible.

Whether you have been recently diagnosed, require a second opinion, or are seeking advanced treatment options, AINU Hospitals is a trusted prostate cancer hospital offering comprehensive care at every stage of your prostate cancer journey. As a leading hospital for prostate cancer treatment, we combine experienced specialists, advanced technology, and personalized care to help patients achieve the best possible outcomes.

What is Prostate Cancer?

The prostate is a small gland found only in men. Located below the bladder and surrounding the urethra, it produces fluid that forms part of semen.

Prostate cancer develops when abnormal cells within the prostate begin to grow uncontrollably. In many men, the disease grows slowly and may remain confined to the prostate for years. However, some forms are more aggressive and can spread to nearby tissues, lymph nodes, or other organs such as the bones if left untreated.

Early detection significantly improves treatment outcomes. Regular screening and prompt evaluation of urinary symptoms are particularly important for men over 50 years of age or those with a family history of prostate cancer.

Prostate Cancer Symptoms

Many men with early-stage prostate cancer experience no noticeable symptoms. As the disease progresses, symptoms may include:

  • Frequent urination, especially at night
  • Difficulty starting or stopping urination
  • Weak or interrupted urine stream
  • Pain or burning while urinating
  • Blood in the urine
  • Blood in semen
  • Pain during ejaculation
  • Persistent pain in the lower back, hips, pelvis, or thighs
  • Unexplained weight loss
  • Fatigue in advanced stages

These symptoms are not exclusive to prostate cancer and may also occur due to benign prostate enlargement or infections. A proper medical evaluation is essential for an accurate diagnosis.

Causes and Risk Factors

The exact cause of prostate cancer is not fully understood, but several factors increase the risk.

These include:

  • Increasing age (especially above 50 years)
  • Family history of prostate cancer
  • Certain inherited genetic mutations
  • Obesity
  • Diet high in processed foods and saturated fats
  • Lack of physical activity
  • Smoking

Having one or more risk factors does not necessarily mean a person will develop prostate cancer, but regular screening becomes increasingly important.

When Should You See a Doctor?

Consult a urologist if you experience:

  • Persistent urinary problems
  • Blood in urine or semen
  • Difficulty emptying the bladder
  • Pain in the pelvis or lower back
  • Bone pain without an obvious cause
  • Elevated PSA levels
  • Family history of prostate cancer

Men above 50 years, and those above 45 years with a strong family history, should discuss prostate cancer screening with their doctor.

How is Prostate Cancer Diagnosed?

At AINU Hospitals, diagnosis involves a combination of clinical evaluation, laboratory investigations, advanced imaging, and tissue confirmation.

1.Medical History and Physical Examination

The doctor evaluates symptoms, family history, lifestyle factors, and performs a Digital Rectal Examination (DRE) to assess the prostate.

2.PSA Blood Test

The Prostate-Specific Antigen (PSA) blood test measures PSA levels in the bloodstream. Elevated PSA does not always indicate cancer but helps identify patients requiring further evaluation.

3.Multiparametric MRI (mpMRI)

Advanced MRI helps detect suspicious areas, estimate the extent of disease, and improve biopsy accuracy.

4.Prostate Biopsy

A biopsy remains the definitive method for confirming prostate cancer. Tissue samples are collected and examined under a microscope to determine the presence and aggressiveness of cancer.

5.PET-CT Scan

In selected patients, advanced imaging helps determine whether cancer has spread beyond the prostate.

6.Cancer Grading and Staging

Following diagnosis, specialists determine:

  • Gleason Score / Grade Group
  • Tumor stage
  • Extent of spread

This information guides treatment planning.

Prostate Cancer Treatment

Treatment depends on several factors, including:

  • Stage of cancer
  • PSA level
  • Gleason score
  • Age
  • Overall health
  • Patient preferences

AINU Hospitals offers comprehensive prostate cancer treatment under one roof.

Active Surveillance

For low-risk, slow-growing cancers, careful monitoring with regular PSA testing, MRI scans, and repeat biopsies may be recommended instead of immediate treatment.

If you’re looking for a prostate cancer treatment hospital, AINU Hospitals offers comprehensive diagnosis, treatment, robotic surgery, and long-term follow-up through a multidisciplinary uro-oncology team.

Robotic-Assisted Radical Prostatectomy

Robotic prostate surgery is one of the most advanced treatments for localized prostate cancer.

The surgeon removes the prostate using a robotic surgical system through small incisions, allowing exceptional precision.

Potential benefits include:

  • Smaller incisions
  • Less blood loss
  • Reduced pain
  • Faster recovery
  • Shorter hospital stay
  • Lower risk of complications
  • Better preservation of urinary continence
  • Improved chances of preserving erectile function in suitable patients

Laparoscopic Prostate Surgery

For selected patients, minimally invasive laparoscopic surgery may also be recommended.

Radiation Therapy

Radiation treatment uses high-energy beams to destroy cancer cells and may be used:

  • As the primary treatment
  • After surgery
  • For recurrent disease
  • To relieve symptoms in advanced cancer

Hormone Therapy

Since prostate cancer cells often depend on testosterone, hormone therapy helps slow or stop cancer growth by reducing hormone levels.

It may be used alone or combined with radiation therapy.

Chemotherapy

Chemotherapy is generally reserved for advanced or metastatic prostate cancer that no longer responds adequately to hormone therapy.

Targeted Therapy and Immunotherapy

Selected patients with advanced prostate cancer and specific genetic characteristics may benefit from targeted medicines or immunotherapy.

Our specialists evaluate each patient individually to determine eligibility.

Life After Prostate Cancer Treatment

Recovery varies depending on the treatment received.

Patients may require support for:

  • Urinary continence
  • Sexual health
  • Physical rehabilitation
  • Nutrition
  • Emotional wellbeing
  • Long-term cancer surveillance

Regular follow-up appointments, PSA monitoring, and imaging help ensure early detection of recurrence if it occurs.

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes. When detected early, prostate cancer is often highly treatable, and many patients achieve excellent long-term outcomes.

No. PSA levels can rise due to benign prostate enlargement, infection, inflammation, or recent medical procedures. Additional tests are required to determine the cause.

Robotic surgery offers several advantages, including smaller incisions, less pain, reduced blood loss, and quicker recovery. However, the most appropriate treatment depends on the individual patient’s condition.

Temporary urinary leakage is common after surgery. Most patients improve over time with pelvic floor exercises and rehabilitation.

Some treatments may temporarily or permanently affect erectile function. Your surgeon will discuss nerve-sparing techniques and available treatment options whenever appropriate.

Yes, recurrence is possible. Regular PSA monitoring and follow-up visits help detect recurrence early and allow timely treatment.

Choosing the right hospital depends on factors such as the experience of the uro-oncology team, availability of robotic surgery, multidisciplinary cancer care, advanced imaging, pathology support, and long-term follow-up services. Patients should also consider treatment outcomes, hospital infrastructure, and personalized care.
